Celebrate National Pastry Day at These 7 Orlando Bakeries
Any day that includes a pastry is a great day.
That’s why National Pastry Day on December 9 is one of the best days of the year.
While you never need an excuse to enjoy a warm, flaky, delicious fresh baked good, if you’ve been looking for one, this is it.
To help you celebrate, we’ve put together this list of our favorite Orlando bakeries for you to try. Here’s where you can find some of the City Beautiful’s best baked goods and pastries.
Buttermilk Bakery
Buttermilk Bakery is a family-owned, small batch bakery making beautiful treats that are in high demand.
With a menu that changes weekly, you can either stop by and pick up your pastries to eat on their patio or order online ahead of time to make sure you get everything on your “must-have” list.
Buttermilk Bakery is known for both sweet and savory pastries. Their popular croissant tarts are delicately flaky shells with rotating flavorful fillings like a bold Mexican corn and an herbaceous Mediterranean cauliflower with whipped feta cheese.
Decadent donuts, elegant tarts, and delicately layered cakes are key players when it comes to their sweet offerings, each one artfully crafted to look just as beautiful as it tastes.
Check out their Instagram to see what amazing menu items you can expect for the week.
The Glass Knife
The Glass Knife is a gorgeous restaurant with a unique vintage chic aesthetic and some of the city’s most beautiful desserts.
Their pastries are innovative confections that combine unique flavors and textures for treats that are truly divine. They look so beautiful, it’s almost a shame to bite into them – until you do. Then it’s totally worth it.
The Glass Knife is also known for its sensational donuts, with rotating flavors that have included strawberry daiquiri, cracker jack, and lemon poppyseed . They’re incredible on their own, but even better paired with a specialty coffee from the coffee bar.
Tasty cookies, flaky croissants, elegant petite cakes, and show-stopping full-size cakes are just a few of the other treats you can look forward to when you visit the Glass Knife.
Feeling extra hungry? Their full breakfast, lunch, and brunch menus are the perfect precursors to dessert.
Gideon’s Bakehouse
You may know Gideon’s Bakehouse as one of the most popular foodie attractions at Disney Springs. The demand for their famous half-pound cookies has been known to create lines that are as legendary as their baked goods.
Gideons Bake House’s behemoth cookies are rich, dense, and worth the hype. Consistent menu offerings include the Original Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Pistachio Chocolate Toffee, and more.
New limited seasonal offerings are available every month, like the Sea Turtle cookie packed with chocolate, gooey caramel, and Gideons’ own signature sea salt.
In addition to their epic cookies, Gideon’s Bakehouse is also known for their decadent cakes. These three-tiered beauties pack tasty goodness into every bite with flavors like Chocolate Churro, Rainbow Crunch, Chocolate Chip Marshmallow, and Andes Mint.
While you can always embrace the hype at their Disney Springs location, their flagship counter is at East End Market in Audubon Park and offers a much more laid-back Bakehouse experience.
Se7en Bites
Some people may know Se7en Bites for its hearty Southern-inspired brunch and breakfast menus. Others may know it from chef and owner Trina Gregory’s multiple appearances on the Food Network and Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil.” But sweet tooth enthusiasts know it for its incredible baked goods.
Just past the main registers is the beautiful bakery counter, where an array of delicious pastries, cookies, pies, and tarts are displayed beneath glass cake domes and stacked on tin cake stands.
You’ll almost always find favorites like the Salted Caramel Dark Chocolate Pecan pie in a small aluminum pie tin that you can totally justify as a single serving.
Se7en Bites is famous for its Vanilla Bean Bourbon Bacon Nighttime Sky Pie, a homemade marshmallow laced in vanilla and bourbon sprinkled with bacon and sandwiched between two shortbread cookies and dipped in chocolate, as seen on “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives.”
There are plenty of cookies, whoopie pies, tarts, and other goodies waiting for you at the Se7en Bites Bakery counter – that is, if you have any room left after brunch.
Light on the Sugar
Every pastry made at Light on the Sugar is packed with as much personality as there is flavor.
This family-owned bakery now has four locations that are baking up incredible treats with an Asian twist that are sweet for the eyes and the taste buds.
They’re known for their epic cream puffs in fun limited flavors like honeydew and banana cream pie, and their crepe cakes made of 20 layers of thin crepe sheets and pastry cream with flavors like lychee jasmine and s’mores.
You’ll also find sweet delicacies like egg tarts, one-of-a-kind cake boxes, tarts, bonbons, and more.
Their playful macarons are creative and tasty, making them perfect to eat or to gift. Previous macaron designs have included Pokémon, Minions, squishmallows, corgis, and seasonal favorites like snowmen and turkeys.
Pair your baked good(s) with one of their refreshing drinks or a decadent coffee to cleanse your palate.
Amorette’s Patisserie
Amorette’s Patisserie is another Disney Springs bakery staple.
This beautiful bake shop is known for its Disney-inspired cakes and specialty eclairs that are fun, whimsical, and flavorful.
Amorette’s is a modern, elegant establishment that delivers plenty of joy. Their popsicle-shaped cake pops are decorated in honor of beloved Disney movies like “Moana” and “Mulan.”
Their petite cakes are beautiful works of art with fun flavors like tropical cheesecake and strawberry bubble tea. The signature Mickey Mousse dessert is as delicious as it is picture-worthy, and the perfect treat for any Disney fan.
Whether you stop by Amorette’s after a day of Disney Springs shopping or make a trip just for the treats, these gorgeous baked goods are certain to make your day a little more magical.
Mecatos Bakery & Cafe
Mecatos Bakery & Cafe is a Columbian bakery serving up specialty coffee, traditional Columbian fried foods, and beautiful desserts.
Their Pandebono is a crispy, warm dough stuffed with a mild, salty cheese that melts into a gooey center. These bite-sized morsels are their signature menu items for good reason; it’s hard to eat just one!
Splurge on assorted pastries with preserves and fillings like guava and cheese, dulce de leche, and classic flaky elephant ears.
In addition to their Colombian savory and sweet pastries, Mecatos is also known for their beautiful desserts. The strawberry shortcake has tiers of vanilla sponge cake topped with strawberry filling and vanilla frosting. The mocha cake is infused with espresso and cocoa powder for a kick of coffee.
There is also tiramisu, cannoli, flan, tres leches, and other sweet delicacies that pair perfectly with a cup of hot Colombian coffee.
